A mom passes on

Center of the family

Time for her to rest

The sun shines fiercely

Through the east-facing window

This summer morning.

Sunflowers wilting

Under deadly summer skies:

Untimely demise.

Plum flowers turning to fruit

My mom died last Tuesday...

So, no guest for today's show.  I will play some music and hang out, but probably won't have a whole lot to say. My mom was my first CCD teacher (basically Catholic Sunday School). I remember the textbook she used was very beautiful, with poignant black and white photos and prose that really evoked a Jesus that  loved all people and wanted us to do the same. I believe the curriculum she taught really helped form who I am today. My mom continued throughout her life to model the words she taught me as a kid. She remained politically aware - active and appalled by what is going on in our nation - right until the very end.

Tune into Out and About every Tuesday at 4 pm on KYRS at 88.1 and 92.3 fm. Also streaming at KYRS.org. You can also subscribe to it as a podcast. Thanks for listening! Maeve
